THE EAGLE'S LEGACY

The Aguilar name traces back to medieval Spain, derived from the Latin word for "eagle's lair"—a symbol of strength, courage, and nobility. Our lineage took a unique path when the Spanish surname became woven into the Kickapoo Nation through generations of cultural blending in Mexico and Texas.

Our great-grandfather, Tranquilino Aguilar, was born in 1893 in Eagle Pass, Texas, as a member of the Kickapoo Tribe. He carried both the proud Spanish surname and the resilient heritage of a people known for their fierce independence and traditional values. Grandpa Tranquilino learned construction within the tribe—architecture with mud and natural materials. At 23 years old, in 1916, he bought his own land and built his first home. That's when construction was first woven into the Aguilar family name.

But Grandpa Tranquilino built more than structures. He built a foundation of principles that would carry through generations:

"Do things right the first time, so you don't have to come back and clean your mess the second time. Because on the second time, you've already driven your name through the mud and it's harder to clean the reputation."

"You've been given two ears and one mouth, so you can hear twice as much as you speak. It will keep you humble and teach you something new every day."

These weren't just sayings—they were the code for preserving the honor and integrity of the Aguilar name.

FROM CARDBORD FORTS TO
COMMERCIAL BUILDINGS

Jay Aguilar started building at 8 years old, constructing miniature homes and forts out of cardboard to keep his six siblings entertained. The passion only grew as he followed Grandpa Tranquilino around the ranch during summers, watching him build with his own eyes and learning about life in the process.

In 1997, Jay took his first formal step into the construction industry, attending school for Architectural Design. Over the years, he designed several homes in San Antonio, TX. Then in 2014, he stepped out and completed his first commercial tenant build-out, launching his journey as a construction professional.

For nearly a decade, Jay managed projects, honing his craft and building his reputation. In 2023, he decided it was time to build something of his own—The Aguilar contracting group—alongside his only son, Ness Aguilar.

LEADERSHIP THAT'S HANDS ON

At the heart of Aguilar contracting group is a father-son leadership team that brings generations of expertise to every project.

WHAT WE STAND FOR

Our core values aren't borrowed from a business book—they're inherited from generations of Aguilars who understood that your name is your bond.

Integrity - Always doing what's right, even when no one is watching.

Honesty - Being an open book is the key to trust in relationships.

Transparency - No smoke, no mirrors, just straight talk and real answers.

These values, rooted in our heritage and our faith, form the DNA of how we do business.

WHAT DRIVES US

We don't just build structures—we bring dreams to life. There's nothing more powerful than watching a client walk into a space they envisioned and seeing it become real. That journey, from concept to completion, is what gets us up in the morning.

In 1916, Tranquilino Aguilar knew the hard work and dedication it would take to build his family's first home—a home that would become the first of many. His vision and passion for construction became the value woven into the fabric of what we do today. It's a value that's been passed down through generations as we help individuals build their dreams one stud at a time.
